Global hunger index: India

India slipped to 101st position in the Global Hunger Index (GHI) 2021 of 116 countries, from its 2020 position of 94th. It is now behind its neighbours Pakistan, Bangladesh and Nepal.

The GHI report, prepared jointly by Irish aid agency Concern Worldwide and German organization Welt Hungerhilfe, termed the level of hunger in the country “alarming”.

Reacting sharply to the Global Hunger Report 2021, the Women and Child Development Ministry said it is “shocking” to find that it has lowered the rank of India on the basis of FAO estimate on proportion of undernourished population which is found to be “devoid of ground reality and facts, and suffers from serious methodological issues”.

In the 2021 Global Hunger Index, India ranks 101st out of the 116 countries with sufficient data to calculate 2021 GHI scores. With a score of 27.5, India has a level of hunger that is serious. Our government busy in divide and rule policy (Hindu-Muslim), ban china, what Taliban is doing in their country but government didn’t stop the petrol price hike, edible oil price hike, increase the foreign investment in India etc result of pandemic and government avoidance lead Indian people to hunger.

I didn’t have much to say in this regard. But under Art.21 right to life should include right to have food. And in India where farmer run down (killed) by politician son, where farmer bill had passed without consulting farmers need and requirement. Food should not be in the hand of businessmen or big tycoon otherwise poor will deprive from their life.
